Cosmetic Dentist vs. General Dentist

While the American Dental Association (ADA) does not officially recognize cosmetic dentistry as a specialty, many dentists choose to focus on the more artistic aspects of dentistry and are considered cosmetic dentists by their patients, peers, and mentors.

General Dentist

A general dentist performs regular teeth cleanings and diagnoses problems that patients have with pain and oral health. They can tell patients when other issues are causing damage to their teeth, like bruxism, a poor diet, or dry mouth.
